Comau + FLEX-LINE AUTOMATION for Gilster MaryLee (case116)
Picking and placing of single serve macaroni cups in an automatic line with Comau Rebel-S6 scara robot
Our approach
The cups start on the second floor on the plant where take one row and divert it into two rows. From there we send the cups down a chute and turn them over and accumulate them on a conveyor. Then the cups flow a short distance to the robot where they are picked. The robot waits for the indexing conveyor to send a signal that it is in position then the robot places the cups. The robot, accumulation conveyor, solenoid valve bank, vacuum blower, and several sensor are all controlled by the R1C controller.
In selecting a robotic partner for this application, Comau’s speed and cost effectiveness made it a clear choice. The Rebel-S easily integrated into the existing line, making quick work of cup handling by moving up to 100 cups per minute in a small footprint.
